He further said that, ‘The timeline has surprised us as we were expecting that maybe after a few months it might happen. But it is largely the same, the same Taliban that was there 20 years ago.
Timeline has surprised us because were anticipating this happening maybe a couple of months down the line. CDS Rawat has also said that we will ensure that we deal with any problem coming from Afghanistan to India in the same way as we deal with terrorism. He further said that we are moving forward there according to the strategy. Strategically we are in a very strong position and the Indian Army is fully prepared to face any kind of situation.
General Rawat described the situation in Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific region separately and said that these two should not be seen through the same lens. He said that yes, ‘it is true that there is a security threat to India from neighboring countries on both the areas. But these two are different issues. It is difficult for these two to meet each other.
