It is to be noted that IPL 2010 also included 10 teams, in which both Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala participated in the tournament before the franchise ended and the BCCI had in 2015 awarded two teams – Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions to the IPL 2016. and added as replacements for the then suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals teams for the 2017 editions. Now BCCI is adding two new teams after six years.
