Two new teams have been announced for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. With this, now 10 teams will be seen playing instead of 8 in the upcoming season of IPL. According to the report of a leading news agency, two new IPL teams will be from Ahmedabad and Lucknow. CVC Capital Partners has got the team from Ahmedabad and RPSG Group has got the team from Lucknow.

According to the report, Sanjeev Goenka’s RPSG Group has won the Lucknow team for Rs 7090 crore in the auction held today for IPL 2022. The Ahmedabad team has been acquired by CVC Capital Partners by bidding for Rs 5166 crore. It is believed that with the inclusion of two new teams in the new season i.e. IPL 2022, the excitement of the game will increase further. Also, IPL will also run for more than two months.

IPL auction will also be done for the upcoming season of IPL, in which the old eight franchises have been allowed to retain four players each. In which there can be three Indian players and two foreign players. It will depend on IPL franchises how they retain players.

It is to be noted that IPL 2010 also included 10 teams, in which both Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala participated in the tournament before the franchise ended and the BCCI had in 2015 awarded two teams – Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions to the IPL 2016. and added as replacements for the then suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals teams for the 2017 editions. Now BCCI is adding two new teams after six years.
