International Womens Day: MP Sonal Man Singh demands to celebrate International Men’s Day, women reservation issue raised in Rajya Sabha

In the Rajya Sabha today, on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March, the women members raised the demand for passing the Women’s Reservation Bill. Women MPs emphasized the need to promote the participation of women in different sectors of society. MP Fauzia Khan said that women have always been ahead in the service sector. Fauzia also talked about increasing women’s participation in decision making.

 

 

Speaking on women’s reservation, MP Chhaya Verma said that now the time has come that women should be given reservation in Parliament and State Legislatures. This bill will increase the number of women members in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies. Chhaya Verma said that the daughter talks to the government, but the situation of the daughters is not good.

BJP MP Saroj Pandey defended the government and said that the government was trying to remove discrimination against women. She further said that due to the efforts of the government, the ratio of women to men has improved in many places.

 

Apart from this, nominated MP Sonal Man Singh also demanded to celebrate International Men’s Day on the occasion of Women’s Day. He said that when we raise demand for equality at all levels in the society, then why should not International Men’s Day be celebrated like International Women’s Day. He also said that the number of women is more than half of the population but they are deprived of rights.
