BJP again wins Chandigarh mayor’s election, wins all three posts of Corporation

The mayoral election is over in the popular city of India, Chandigarh and once again the BJP has won the election. Not only this, along with the post of Mayor, BJP has also occupied the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. BJP candidate Ravikant Sharma has been elected as the new mayor of Chandigarh in the mayoral election.

Newly elected Mayor Ravikant Sharma defeated Congress candidate Devendra Singh Babla in the election. Ravikant Sharma got the votes of 17 councilors while the Congress candidate got only 5 votes. Two votes were got wasted. While the Akali Dal councilor did not participate in the election. Along with this, BJP candidate Mahesh Indra Sidhu won the post of Senior Deputy Mayor in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and Farmila Devi won the position of Deputy Mayor.

BJP’s victory in all three municipal corporations has triggered a wave of happiness among the councilors. This election is important because Chandigarh is counted among the well-organized cities of India. In such a situation, the importance of corporation elections also increases. However, in this election, NDA’s Akali Dal councilor Hardeep Singh protested, wearing black clothes, and announced not to vote in the house.

BJP MP from Chandigarh Kiran Kher could not participate in this election due to poor health. She is a Member of Parliament here since 2014. Speaking of elected Mayor Ravikant Sharma, he has also been the District President of BJP in Chandigarh. He was also the senior deputy mayor of the municipal corporation in the last election. He is the first member of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation who has risen to the post of Mayor after Senior Deputy Mayor.
