Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed happiness over the joining of the country’s daughters in the armed forces through the National Defense Academy (NDA) and also talked about the role of women in the Indian Army. He said that I am happy to inform you that from next year women will be able to join our premier tri-services ex-commission training institute, the National Defense Academy.
Expressing his views on ‘Role of Women in Armed Forces’ at SCO-International Webinar, Rajnath Singh said that the induction of women in armed forces has started last year, which is a major milestone in which women are encouraged, is included in the rank and file of the army.

General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) at the SCO-International webinar said, “Women are serving the armed forces around the world today. The training of women soldiers in the Indian Army has been tough and it has helped them in good strength to perform their tasks in different terrains. He further said that women have also proved their mettle in combat roles like fighter pilots, paratroopers, submarines.
In the month of September, the Central Government informed the Supreme Court that a decision has been taken to allow women to join the armed forces through NDA. Earlier, the Supreme Court in its interim order has also allowed women to appear in NDA exam on a temporary basis.
