Vaccination of people above the age of 18 years is going on in full swing in the country. With this, parents are now waiting for the corona vaccine for their children as well, so their wait is also going to be over soon. Corona vaccination for children has also been approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

According to a leading daily report, the Government of India has approved the emergency use of Bharat Biotech’s Covaccine for children in the age group of 2 to 18 years. With this decision, Covaccine has become the first such vaccine in the country. which has been permitted to be used for children. After this decision, guidelines for the vaccination of children between 2 to 18 years will also be issued by the Government of India soon.

Bharat Biotech’s covaxin was tested before it was approved for the vaccination of children. Bharat Biotech completed a three-phase trial of Covaccine on children below 18 years of age. The second and third phase trials of this vaccine were completed in September. After which Covaccine has been approved for use.

According to the report, there was no negative effect of Covaccine on children during the trial. This vaccine was found to be up to 78 percent effective in clinical trials. Zydus Cadila’s indigenously manufactured corona vaccine ZyCoV-D is also to be used for immunization of adolescents aged 12-18 years. However, it will not be given through a syringe or needle. Rather, it will be delivered through an applicator. Which will be used for the first time in the country.
