Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today urged the defense industry of the country to take advantage of the policy reforms initiated by the Government of India in the last few years to boost domestic defense manufacturing. According to a leading news agency report, he has urged private sector defense companies to invest in research and development in technologies, especially those related to cyberspace.
Addressing the Annual General Meeting of the Society of India Defense Manufacturing (SIDM), Rajnath Singh said the rapid change in the global security scenario is expected to increase the demand for military equipment and the Indian industry should focus on increasing production. He also said that there is no region in the world that has not been affected by these changes.

Rajnath Singh further said that the impact of this change can also be seen on trade, economy, communication, political equation and military power. These changes will also increase the demand for military equipment. He further said that we are providing a suitable environment for development to the private sector. We have also opened up opportunities for manufacturing fighter jets, helicopters, submarines and tanks in India through the strategic partnership model in the same sequence.
Rajnath Singh in his address informed that a compendium has been started to highlight the efforts of all the companies. His efforts have contributed a lot to India’s goal of self-reliance. He further informed that SIDM has set up its first sub-state office in Lucknow for its expansion process.
