India’s Golden Girl Avani Lekhara, who won the gold medal by performing brilliantly in the Tokyo Paralympics, has once again made the country proud. Avni created history by winning her second medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. He won a bronze medal in the 50m Rifle P-3 SH-1 event with a score of 445.9.
Avani Lekhara is the first female athlete from India to have won two medals in a single Paralympic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Avni on this achievement. Congratulating him on social media, Prime Minister Modi wrote, ‘More proud moment excited by Avni Lekhara’s stellar performance in Tokyo Paralympics, congratulations Avni on winning the bronze medal, best wishes for her future’.

On winning the bronze medal, Avani said, ‘I am very happy. Can’t believe it. There has been a lot of support from all over India. Grateful to the entire Indian team, coach and staff. Let us tell you that before this Avani won the gold medal in 10m Air Rifles in Tokyo Paralympics on 30 August 2021, creating history in shooting. Avani is the first Indian female athlete to win a gold medal in the Paralympics. This is also India’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics, won by Avani.
Indian athletes are performing brilliantly in the Tokyo Paralympics. Apart from Avani Lekhara in Tokyo Paralympics, Indian athlete Sumit Antil has won gold medal in javelin throw competition. He has created a new history by breaking the world record thrice in just 15 minutes. India has so far won 12 medals.
