UNICEF India has taken a commendable step to support the Government of India’s National Vaccination. The organization is procuring syringes to aid in the vaccination campaign. According to a Leading Daily report, UNICEF India has signed a USD 1.5 million agreement with Crypto Relief for the purchase of around 160 million syringes.

According to the report, UNICEF India will procure reusable preventive syringes through a global tender process from syringe manufacturers across the world. In order to maintain its quality, only WHO pre-qualified manufacturers will be invited to participate in the tender. UNICEF will order syringes based on global tender results to qualified bidders around the world. The organization’s initiative builds on UNICEF’s global effort to store and distribute one billion syringes to countries to support corona vaccination.

Dr. Yasmin Haque, the representative of UNICEF India, said about this initiative that India’s vaccination program with the goal of vaccinating more than 994 million people above the age of 18 is the largest in the world. This large effort also requires multiple syringes. He further added that we are bringing UNICEF’s expertise in procuring and distributing syringes to help India get vaccinated faster.
