According to a leading daily report, Dr. Rahul Gupta, former health commissioner of West Virginia, has been appointed as the director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Apart from this, Indian-American surgeon and noted author Atul Gawande has been appointed as the Assistant Administrator of the Bureau of Health in the US Agency for International Development (USAID).Dr. Rahul Gupta is treating for 25 years as a primary care physician. Dr. Gupta has also served as the health commissioner of West Virginia under two governors. He has also led the opioid crisis response efforts as the state’s chief health officer. Apart from this, Dr. Gupta has contributed significantly in the development of the action plan of Zika and preparations to deal with it.
