Migrant laborers affected by the second wave of Corona infection in the country are facing economic problems. The Supreme Court of the country has heard the case of migrant laborers today. So that these laborers and their families can get food two times, the Supreme Court has directed the Government of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to run community kitchens.

The Supreme Court has directed to provide free drought rations to the migrant laborers stranded in various states after the lockdown was announced, to run community kitchens for them as well as to arrange transport for those who want to go to their homes. The Supreme Court said that community kitchens should be built around bus stands, railway stations or industrial areas where a large number of migrant laborers reside.

On the issue of transporting migrant laborers to their homes, the Supreme Court said that the authorities should ensure that private bus operators do not charge more than migrant laborers returning home. The Center should also consider including railways to facilitate transport to them. The Supreme Court has asked the state governments to respond within a week on the schemes launched for migrant laborers in the country.

A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and MR Shah gave these directions during the hearing of a petition related to the problems of migrant laborers. In this petition, it has been requested to direct the states and the Center to decide the safety of food, cash transactions, transport facilities and other necessary measures for the migrant laborers suffering due to the lockdown. Let us tell that Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has told the Supreme Court that the country is fighting the Corona epidemic and the effort of all the states is to ensure that industrial and construction activities are not stopped. He requested the Supreme Court that states should be allowed to keep every detail before the court.
