Corona: Increased infection figures affect education sector again; School-colleges closed in these states including Punjab and Uttar Pradesh

School-colleges have been locked in many states of the country due to rising data of corona infection. Keeping in mind the growing havoc of Corona, several states including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, have decided to re-close educational institutions. According to a leading daily report, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the closure of schools up to Class 8 by 4 April 2021 and other educational institutions have been asked to open with strict adherence to the Corona Protocol.

The Punjab government has extended the restrictions already placed on educational institutions till 10 April. State officials have said that new figures of corona infection are expected to decline in Punjab by mid-May. In such a situation, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has ordered to increase corona testing and vaccination. In Madhya Pradesh, it has been decided to discontinue offline classes up to class VIII till 15 April.

The new session of schools in Delhi is set to start from April 1. The Delhi government has decided not to open schools till 8th, amid increasing number of corona infections. But Delhi Parents Association has said that this decision is correct but the decision should have been made for the students of class 9 and 11 as well. Apart from Delhi, educational institutions have been banned in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh.

Schools, colleges, hostels and gurukul institutes have been closed in Telangana. But medical colleges are allowed to open. On the other hand, board examinations in Punjab and Telangana have also been postponed.
