The wait for the extradition of Nirav Modi, the fugitive diamond businessman, is nearing completion. As per a leading daily report, London’s Westminster Magistrate Samuel Gooji has given his verdict. The magistrate ordered Nirav Modi to be extradited to India and also dismissed Nirav’s objections.

The Westminster Magistrate Court called the Indian judiciary neutral and said that the court was satisfied with the assurances of the Government of India. The court while delivering its verdict also said that Nirav hatched a conspiracy to destroy the evidence and threatened the witnesses. The court further said that there is a legal case against Nirav in which he should appear in the court of India.

However, Nirav can appeal against this decision. This decision came after a long legal battle of about two years. Nirav was arrested by the Scotland Yard Police of Britain two years ago. Since which he is imprisoned in London’s Wandsworth Prison. As per the latest media reports, Nirav will be lodged in Arthur Jail in Mumbai after extradition.

The Westminster Magistrate Court said that Nirav will be provided with necessary medical and mental health care at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai. The court’s decision will determine whether Britain’s home secretary Preeti Patel will allow the case to be appealed to the High Court. Explain that Nirav Modi is a wanted accused in the Rs 14,000 crore scam in Punjab National Bank.
