On 5 August 2019, Home Minister of India Amit Shah announced in the Rajya Sabha to remove Article 370 on Jammu and Kashmir. The date was not less than any historic occasion for India. Several controversies arose later on the issue of the removal of Article 370. If someone in the country justified this, then some people appeared to oppose it as well. However, it is the right of the entire country to know whether necessary changes have been made in the situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Article 370. Especially to what extent terrorist incidents have reduced in Kashmir now.

As per the latest information released by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, there has been a decrease of about 63.93 percent in terrorist incidents after 2019. The Ministry has prepared this report keeping in mind the data from the year 2019 to November 15, 2020. The report further states that the number of civilians exposed to terrorist incidents has also decreased by 14.28 per cent. This information has been shared by the Ministry of Home Affairs, counting the annual achievements of the year 2020. The Home Ministry believes that 370 removal in Jammu and Kashmir and the implementation of the laws of all the states and union territories of the country in Kashmir and Ladakh is a major achievement.

The Home Ministry said that the order for adaptation of 44 central laws and 148 state laws for Ladakh and 48 central laws and 167 state laws for Jammu and Kashmir was issued. At the same time, the Ministry said that about 36,384 families who have been displaced from slave Kashmir and Chamba, Rs 5.5 lakh per family has been provided to all families under the Prime Minister’s Development Package. Not only this, this assistance has also been provided to about 5,764 families from West Pakistan.

The removal of Article 370 by the Narendra Modi government in the year 2019 was considered a historic step. Most of the people appeared in favor of this decision. Despite of opposition from the main opposition party Congress, some of its leaders also supported the decision. However, it is expected that now with the new laws, development of Kashmir will soon be seen as a new dawn.
