The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has claimed that the possible third wave of the corona pandemic will not be as severe as the second wave of infection. Experts from ICMR and Imperial College London have done a research together. Which has been published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research.

It has been claimed in this study that even if the third wave of corona infection comes in India, it will not be as frightening as the second wave. The research report said that the vaccination campaign can play an important role in weakening the third wave. Vaccination reduces the severity of corona infection by 60 percent

However, this research also said that due to a new variant, the immunity capacity may decrease over time. Due to which people who have already been exposed to infection can become infected again. But it will not have much effect on those who have got the vaccine dose.

Dr. Balram Bhargava, Director General of ICMR, Sandeep Mandal, Chief Epidemiologist Dr Samiran Panda and Nimalan Erinampathy, who worked at Imperial College London, were involved in this research on a possible third wave in the country. Let us inform that cases of Delta Plus variant of Corona have been found in the country. The central government has become alert about this. ICMR Chief Scientist Dr Samiran Panda has also said that research is also going on on the effect of Delta Plus variant.
