Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took stock of the damage caused by cyclone ‘Yaas’ in the affected states of Bengal and Odisha and made an aerial survey of the cyclone-affected areas. Prime Minister Modi also held a review meeting in Kolkata. In the meeting, the PM announced financial assistance and compensation for those affected by the cyclone ‘Yas’.
Giving information, the Prime Minister’s Office said that PM Modi has expressed his solidarity with the people affected by the cyclonic storm and expressed grief to the families who lost their families during the disaster. Prime Minister Modi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the relatives of the people who lost their lives and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

The Prime Minister’s Office further said that Prime Minister Modi has also announced financial assistance of one thousand crore rupees for immediate relief work. Of this, Rs 500 crore will be given to Odisha immediately and another 500 crore rupees will be given to West Bengal and Jharkhand on the basis of losses in the state.
The Prime Minister’s Office said that the Indian government will deploy an inter-ministerial team here to assess the damage caused by the cyclone ‘Yas’, which will visit the states. Based on this assessment, the state will be provided further assistance. At the same time, Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha have been assured that the central government is with them in this time of crisis.
